"Your staff helped me realize the problems that I have and that you will do almost anything to try and help me get better."
Before Kaden came to Youth Home, he was starting fights and failing in school. He was violent at home, lying, and stealing. When he faced the threat of expulsion, his mother knew she needed to do something and brought him to Youth Home’s outpatient clinic, Behavioral Health Services of Arkansas. In addition to outpatient therapy, they tried short-term residential treatment programs, but Kaden would return home after those short stays and his challenging behavior would resume. So his lovely therapist at BHSA recommended he come to Youth Home.
During his time at Youth Home, Kaden learned how to better communicate his feelings to diminish the impulse in him to react with violence. He learned how to be respectful, how to control his emotions, and the treatment team slowly helped him to gain his confidence back. The Youth Home staff talked to Kaden about his future and gave him a vision of healing. They talked about his future once he graduated from the program and gave him a framework for how to think about his life beyond the traumatic experiences he had gone through in the past. This gave him hope.
Kaden is now excelling in the eighth grade as a football and basketball star! His football coach even told him he might be the best player he has ever coached! Kaden is making good grades and really enjoys school. He and his mother continue to attend outpatient therapy weekly with the same therapist that recommended him to Youth Home. The structure and safety Kaden experienced at Youth Home really allowed him to grow into his true potential.
