Tricare Covered Mental Health Services We Offer

Youth Home offers a wide array of TRICARE® covered mental and behavioral health services in our residential treatment program.

Our residential treatment program for youth ages 12 to 17, was created to and is still committed to treating each child as an individual and providing exceptional treatment for military families from anywhere in the world. Our program addresses a children’s entire wellbeing including medical, psychiatric, social, and academic needs. We provide a variety of therapies and activities in a beautiful, safe and therapeutic environment for diagnoses like reactive attachment disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, severe depression/anxiety, trauma and more. 

And our services are available for coverage under Tricare Insurance. This page exists to answer the important questions of "What services do you offer?" and "Are they covered by my insurance?" If you have Tricare insurance and meet the qualifications for admissions - the answer could be yes.

Additional Youth Home Therapy Approaches

  • Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that helps children and their families address the negative effects of trauma, including processing their traumatic memories, overcoming problematic thoughts and behaviors, and developing effective coping and interpersonal skills.

  • CPT: Cognitive Processing Therapy is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy 12-session trauma treatment

  • Sand Tray Techniques: used separately and in conjunction with EMDR. Useful to create a creative outlet for our clients to communicate their thoughts and feelings without words

  • Play Therapy Techniques: therapeutic games and interventions used in individual and family sessions to create safe and genuine engagement

  • Therapeutic Stories: used separately and in conjunction with EMDR. Used in individual and family sessions, allowing clients to subconsciously hear and work through their difficulties

  • DBT: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a combination of cognitive and behavioral therapy, useful in treating borderline personality disorder symptoms and eating disorders.

  • EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique is a treatment for anxiety, PTSD, and others. Tapping specific points of the body in a particular sequence

  • ACT: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a mindfulness-based therapy that encourages clients to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them

  • Grounding: bringing a client’s focus as to what is happening physically, in their body or surrounding, rather than being trapped in their thoughts and anxiety

  • Mindfulness: being aware in the moment and intentional, accepting the client’s feelings, thoughts, and body sensations

  • Meditation: a technique encouraging a heightened state of awareness and focused attention

Primary Diagnoses We Treat at Youth Home | Tricare In-Network Mental & Behavioral Health

We are known as leaders in treating Reactive Attachment Disorder. Our Child and Adolescent psychiatric programs are designed to treat the needs of each individual child. We primarily treat

  • Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Trauma
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Depression/Anxiety
  • ADHD/ADD
  • OCD

We also have a specialty track for Sexual Reactivity, developed for sexually reactive patients to help them relearn healthy and age appropriate behaviors.

To be eligible for Youth Home's intensive psychiatric residential treatment program, patients must be 12 to 17 years of age and have recent attempts at treatment in outpatient therapy and/or and inpatient hospital.

Patients should be intellectually capable of benefiting from the program (Full-Scale IQ = 70 or above) and have severe emotional or behavioral issues related to a psychiatric diagnosis that require intensive treatment in a secure psychiatric facility. Youth Home also requires enrollment in an educational program (i.e. public school, day treatment, or vocational).
